Cooper, Emily Jane (1865-1921)

Emily Jane Cooper lived at 1837 Morton Avenue in 1913 and at 1174 Denman Street in 1914.

Emily Jane Cooper was born Emily Jane Braim (or Brain), on March 1, 1865 in Northallerton, Yorkshire, England. (The family surname appears in many variations, including “Braim,” “Brain,” and “Braine.”) Emily’s father was Joseph Braim (1838-1900), who was a “fellmonger” or leather dealer. Emily’s mother was Ann Wilson.

On August 11, 1886, in Briggswath, Yorkshire, Emily married Richard Storey Cooper, who was an insurance agent.

In 1891, they were living in Aislabey, Yorkshire, along with Emily’s parents.

In 1901, they were in Harrogate, Yorkshire.

Richard in Australia

In 1911, Richard sailed from Liverpool to Australia, where he began a life as a masseur and nurse. He enlisted with the Australian Imperial Force to serve during the First World War.
