Harold served as a navigator in the RCAF in the Second World War and was awarded the distinguished flying cross for his extraordinary service. After the war he started a career in the life insurance industry and soon became one of Canada’s most well known speakers on the subject. He spoke on numerous occasions to the industry’s leaders at the Million Dollar Round Table conventions. His speaking engagements took him to Europe, Australia and the United States. The Chartered Life Underwriters Association honored his 50 years in the business at a gala dinner in 1995. Harold and Nancy spent their life together bringing up their children and travelling to many wonderful places in the world, but most remembered were the holidays in Acapulco and Palm Springs. Harold always had a passion for swimming, horses, golf, billiards and cards. Over the last 10 years he rekindled his love of bridge and his many partners will miss his enthusiasm. He was instrumental in the creation of the Granville School for emotionally challenged youth, founder of The Physical Medicine Research Foundation and a lifelong supporter of the United Jewish Appeal. The family would like to express their appreciation to the caring staff at the Weinberg Residence. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday May 27, 2 PM at the Schara Tzedeck Cemetery in New Westminster at 2345 Marine Drive. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Louis Brier Jewish Aged Foundation or to the Jewish Community Foundation c/o 1200-666 Burrard Street, Vancouver, BC V6C 2X8.
