Morton Radforth was a machinist. He lived at 1120 Denman Street in 1918 and 1919.

Morton Radforth was born in Sheffield, England, on July 14, 1884. His father was George Thomas Radforth (1836-1910). Morton’s mother was Agnes Morton (1842-1898).

In 1891, Morton was living with his parents in Sheffield. In 1901 and 1911, he was living in Sheffield with his father. (Morton was working as a mechanic in a steel factory in 1901.)

In June 1913 Morton sailed on the S.S. Teutonic to Quebec City, Quebec. His destination was Vancouver.

Morton’s fiancée, Lucy Fitzpatrick, was on the same voyage. Lucy was born in Sheffield, England, about November 16, 1885 (some sources say 1884 or 1886). Her father was Elias Thackery Fitzpatrick (1845-1924), who was an engineer. Lucy’s mother was Rebecca Taylor (1851-possibly 1932).

Morton and Lucy were married in Central Park, Burnaby, on February 21, 1914.

Morton first appeared in the Vancouver directories in 1915. He was living in the Central Park area (probably in Burnaby). He was a machinist with the American Can Company.

Morton and Lucy remained in Vancouver until they went to Washington State in the late 1920s. Morton moved in 1927; Lucy appears to have moved about 1928.

Morton worked for the American Can Company’s factory in Seattle.

In 1931, the Radforths were living at 3640 46th Avenue Southwest in Seattle.

In the mid-1930s, Morton applied to become a naturalized United States citizen.

In 1940, the Radforths were at 1916 41st Avenue Southwest. Morton was a machinist and tool-maker with the American Can Company. (Their son, Greville, was living with them. He was a beauty operator with Frederick and Nelson, a Seattle department store.)

Lucy died in Seattle on September 14, 1944.

Morton died in Seattle on April 5, 1971.

Morton and Lucy had three children who were still-born. They were all buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.

Morton and Lucy had one son who lived to adulthood.

 

Greville Fitzpatrick Radforth

Greville Fitzpatrick Radforth was born on July 17, 1914, in British Columbia, probably in Vancouver.

In the late 1920s he went with his parents to live in Seattle, Washington.

He graduated from West Seattle High School in 1932.

He later studied at the California College of Surgical Chiropody and became a chiropodist.

On March 1, 1941, in Seattle, Greville married Glenna Ruth Flumerfelt. She was born in Washington State on May 6, 1917. Her father was Earl Charles Flumerfelt (1888-1979). Her mother was Maud B. Johnson (1891-1983).

Glenna had also attended West Seattle High School; she graduated in 1935.

Greville died in Seattle on June 12, 1982.

Glenna died in Seattle on August 22, 2013.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Winquist, parents Maud and Earl and her husband, Dr. Greville F. Radforth. Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Aunt to: daughter, Pat (Keith) Dowie, son Ron (Carol) Radforth, grandchildren Kim (Patrick) O’Grady, Phillip Dowie, Chris Radforth, Brian Radforth; and great grandchildren, Kayla O’Grady, Dillon O’Grady, Riley Radforth, Alyssa Radforth; niece Joan (Ken) Fulton and nephew Steve (Laurie) Winquist.
