Allan Gordon Parr was an electrician. He was also a goalie for the Vancouver Millionaires hockey team. He lived at 1850 Alberni Street in 1914.

Allan Gordon Parr (sometimes his first name was spelled “Allen”) was born on August 16, 1879, in Ottawa, Ontario. His father was James Alexander Parr (1845-1906). His mother was Catherine (“Kate”) Baldwin (1845-1929).

He worked as an electrician. It appears that he was living in Vancouver by 1901.

On October 14, 1911, in Vancouver, Allan married Lillian (“Lillie”) Constance Bonham. She was born in London, England, on November 16, 1890. Her father was William Bonham. Her mother was Emma Appleton.

From 1911 to 1914, Allan was the goalie for the Vancouver Millionaires of the Pacific Coast Hockey Association.

Allan continued his work as an electrician through the 1920s. He appears to have retired about 1930.

Allan died in Vancouver on July 7, 1954.

Lillie died in Vancouver on February 23, 1990.

 

Allan and Lillie had the following children.

 

Lilian Katherine Parr

Lilian Katherine Parr (sometimes referred to as “Kathleen”) was born in British Columbia, probably in Vancouver, about 1913.

She was married to a Mr. Currie.

No further information is available for her.

 

Dorothy Lorraine Parr

Dorothy Lorraine Parr was born in Kitchener, Ontario (then called “Berlin”), on March 1, 1916.

On September 11, 1939, in Burnaby, British Columbia, she married David Lionel Bliss, who was a foundry moulder. He was born in Red Deer, Alberta, on October 10, 1914. His father was David Henry Bliss. His mother was Kate Emma Cockrill.

David later worked as a bridge tender for British Columbia Hydro.

Dorothy died in Vancouver on June 21, 1976.

David died in Vancouver on September 20, 1987.

 

Kenneth Allan Parr

Kenneth Allan Parr was living in Vancouver in 1954. No further information is available for him.

“Allan Parr, goal keeper for the 1911 Vancouver Millionaires hockey team, died Wednesday, aged 72. Funeral will be held today.

The quiet, well-liked sportsman played with Hall of Fame members, Cy Griffis [sic], Tom Phillips and Cyclone Taylor.

Known as Old Reliable by his teammates, Parr was never a star, but always turned in a sturdy performance, according to his former boss, Frank Patrick, owner of the Millionaires.”
