Joseph Anderson was the manager of the Union Bank.

He lived at 1860 Comox Street from 1915 to 1916.

Family Background

Joseph Anderson was born in Hastings, Ontario on April 9, 1874.

His parents were David Anderson (1826–1895) and Agnes Morgan (1841-1911).

Early Life

Joseph began a banking career, probably by the late 1800s.

In 1905, he opened a branch of the Union Bank in Smithville, Ontario.

Marriage to Margaret Francis

On July 28, 1908, at Pakenham, Ontario, Joseph married Margaret Francis. She was born in Pakenham on March 29, 1869. Her parents were Jonathan Albert Francis (1820-1888) and Margaret Carswell (1828- 1904).

It appears that the marriage was at “Breezy Heights,” the Francis family home near Pakenham. The house is in the grove of trees just above the stone bridge in the image below.

The current address is 4839 Kinburn Side Road, Pakenham. It is the home of Stonebridge Haven: https://www.stonebridgehaven.ca/.

The bridge is still there today, and the area looks similar, although there are more trees that shield the house from view.
