He was educated at Glasgow University.

He did not appear in the Vancouver directories after 1912. It appears that he went to live in Britain.

He died in 1970 in Doncaster, Yorkshire, England.

He had a brother named Thomas Auld Coxon, who was born on October 19, 1889, in Helensburgh, Scotland. Thomas went to the United States in 1911. On May 14, 1927, in Ludowici, Georgia, he married Helen Reid Williams (1899-1989), who was the publisher and editor of the Ludowici News. She served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1935 to 1938, in the Georgia Senate in 1941, and was a member of the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles from 1943 to 1950.

Thomas died on November 18, 1955. He was buried in Walthourville Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Walthourville, Liberty County, Georgia.
