Ernest Clemow Powell was a railway mail clerk who lived at 1915 Pendrell Street from 1907 to 1911.
Ernest was born in Ottawa, Ontario on June 12, 1872. His parents were William Frederick and Rosanna Margaret Powell.
Ernest arrived in Vancouver in the late 1890s; by 1897, he was living at 1113 Nelson Street.
On September 27, 1898, in Vancouver, Ernest married Ann Evelyn Trew. She was born in New Westminster, British Columbia on August 11, 1876. Her father was Dr. Charles Newland Trew (c. 1838-1887); her mother was Harriet Ferrie.
In 1911, Ernest and Ann moved to Ottawa, where they built a house at 12 Allan Avenue.
Ernest was a real estate broker in Ottawa from about 1911 until he retired in 1935.
His favourite sports were golf and curling.
Ernest died in Ottawa on August 9, 1937. He was buried in Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa.
Ann died on April 19, 1961. She was buried in Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa on April 21, 1961.
Ernest and Ann had a son named Allan Trew Powell. He was born in Vancouver on May 19, 1899. He enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the First World War. He obtained an M.Sc. degree from McGill University in 1923. He married Elizabeth Alice Smith, who was born in New York on November 1, 1898.
Elizabeth died in Port Perry, Ontario in September 1984.
Allan died in Port Perry in August 1985.
