Harold, Ernest (1884-1920)

Ernest Harold lived at 740 Denman Street before 1912.

The 1912 Registry of Ward I Voters in Vancouver included an objection to retaining Ernest Henry Harold on the list of voters: Vancouver Province, May 3, 1912, page 30; Vancouver World, May 6, 1912, page 2.

Ernest Harold was a rancher. He was born in Toronto, Ontario, on June 21, 1884. (His birth record gives his name as Ernest Hilton Harold). His father was Christopher J. Harold (1858-1944). His mother was Elizabeth Oliver (1857-1942).

In 1915 Ernest enlisted with the Canadian Expeditionary Force to serve during the First World War.

In 1916 he received a gunshot wound in the left leg, although he later recovered.

He also was gassed during the war.

After the general demobilization at the end of the war, he went to live in Quilchena, British Columbia.

He never married.

He died in Merritt, British Columbia, on August 4, 1920. He was buried in Caron Cemetery in Caron, Saskatchewan.
