James Edward Morse Williams was a manufacturers’ agent. He lived at 1947 Pendrell Street in 1918.

It appears that James Edward Morse Williams was born James Edward Morse on January 10, 1882 in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, Wales. His mother was Anne Margaret Morse. James’s birth certificate did not list a father.

James’s father may have been Lord Kensington, William Edwardes, the Fourth Baron (1835-1896).

In 1884, James’s mother married John Williams in Haverfordwest.

James arrived in Canada in November 1904.

For a time he lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he was a clerk for the T. Eaton Company.

On December 12, 1908, in the Rural Municipality of North Cypress, Manitoba, James married Irma Verna Benson. She was born on February 11, 1886 in Manvers Township in Durham, Ontario. Her parents were Thomas John Benson (1853–1941) and Louisa Theresa A. Maxwell (1854-1924).

In February 1909, James and Irma moved to Calgary, Alberta, where James worked for the J. Eveleigh Company.

The J. Eveleigh Company was based in Montreal. The company made trunks, valises and other types of baggage, and its representatives sold these products across Canada.

While James was in Calgary, he also represented other companies, mostly clothing manufacturers. He continued his singing career, both in choirs and as a soloist. He was also an active member of the Rotary Club.

James continued to work in Calgary until about 1916. In 1917 and 1918 he spent time in Vancouver, where he acted as a manufacturers’ agent at 518 Beatty Street.

It appears that James’s business location was in the building of the Storey and Campbell Company at 518 Beatty Street. Storey and Campbell sold a wide variety of goods, including Eveleigh trunks and valises.

While James was in Vancouver, he continued his singing performances, which drew praise from Vancouver audiences. His last performance was in August 1919, at a tribute for Frank Wrigley, who was a local organist.

In October 1919, James developed appendicitis. After having surgery, he developed peritonitis and he died on October 25.

The Calgary Rotary Club expressed their appreciation for James’s talents and generosity.

The Vancouver newspapers also reported James’s death.
