Charles Stuart Cameron (usually called “Stuart”) was a building contractor. He lived at 1891 Barclay Street in 1913 and 1914, and at 1000 Gilford Street in 1915.

Stuart was born in Thurso, Quebec, on July 12, 1873. [Thurso, Quebec, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thurso,_Quebec]. His father was John Archibald Cameron (1820-1899); his mother was Alexandrina (1835-1896).

Stuart attended Upper Canada College, Woodstock College, and the University of Toronto.

In 1897, Stuart went to the Yukon, where he was involved in mining for three years. Then he became a railway contractor in northern Ontario.

On October 18, 1902, in Ottawa, Ontario, Stuart married Helen Mildred Macdougall. Her father was Alfred C. MacDougall; her mother was Julia Travis. Helen’s grandfather was William Macdougall, one of the Fathers of Confederation. The family came to British Columbia in 1912, where Stuart was involved in many large construction projects in Vancouver and elsewhere in British Columbia.

Stuart died on September 23, 1935, in West Vancouver. He was buried in Capilano View Cemetery.
