1000 Denman Street

I updated the page on 1000 Denman Street, which was on the southeast corner of Denman Street and Nelson Street. For most of its life it was a grocery store, chocolate shop, and bakery.

In the 1950s, the site became part of a service station lot, and it later formed part of the Denman Place complex.

I added illustrations and information on the uses of the property over the years.

1899 Beach Avenue

I updated the page on 1899 Beach Avenue. This was the address for the Sylvia Grocery, which was on the ground floor of the Sylvia Court Apartments (later called the Sylvia Hotel).

I added a new page on the Simonizing facility, which was at the rear of 1842 Alberni Street sometime during the period between 1910 and 1920. It appeared on a fire insurance map, but it was not in the Vancouver directories from 1910 to 1920.

I updated the page on 1800 Georgia Street, which was a small, one-storey building at the southwest corner of Georgia Street and Denman Street. For a time it was a grocery store and confectionery. The site was vacant in the 1921 and 1922 Vancouver directories. Later it became the location of a marine engine business.
