Dr. “Andrew A. Wilson” appeared in the Vancouver directory in 1910. He was living at 1086 Denman Street. It appears that this person was actually Albert Arthur Wilson. (He was sometimes called “A.A. Wilson” or “Arthur Wilson.”)

Albert Arthur Wilson was born on September 27, 1885, in Perth, Ontario (some sources say 1878). His father was Albert Wilson (born about 1860), who was a cordwainer. [Traditionally, a cordwainer makes shoes from new leather; a cobbler repairs shoes or makes shoes from old leather.] Albert Arthur Wilson’s mother was Minnie Davidson (1857-1915).

Arthur studied medicine at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec.

He arrived in Vancouver about 1910 and established his medical practice at number 7 of the Tunstall Block, at 709 Dunsmuir Street.

On September 27, 1911, in Vancouver, Arthur married Electra Lazell Anderson, who was also a medical doctor. She was born in St. Thomas, Ontario about 1881. (She was sometimes called “Lazelle” or “E. Lazell.”) She had studied at the University of Toronto.

Arthur and Electra lived at 1076 Robson Street in 1912. They were at 1754 West Broadway in 1913 and 1914. They appeared in the Vancouver society directory in 1914.

Arthur and Lazell went to England during the First World War. Arthur became a lieutenant in the Canadian Army Medical Corps.

Lazell worked as a civilian surgeon attached to the Royal Army Medical Corps. In early 1916 she was at the Graylingwell War Hospital in Chichester. In the summer of 1916, she went to Malta as part of the Women’s Medial Unit in the Royal Army Medical Corps. She later served in Egypt until July 1919.

It appears that Arthur and Lazell later practiced medicine in England.

Albert Arthur Wilson was in the British Medical Register in 1932, 1934, 1938, 1940 and 1945.

Electra Lazell Anderson Wilson appeared in the British Medical Register in 1924, 1926, 1938, and 1940.

Electra died on November 25, 1942, in Salford, Lancashire, England. She had been living at 36 Broad Street in Pendleton, Salford.
