George Allen Davidson was a real estate broker. He lived at 952 Denman Street in 1905.

George Allen Davidson was born on October 9, 1873, in Brussels, Huron County, Ontario.

In the 1890s, he was living in Neepawa, Manitoba. On February 20, 1895, in Neepawa, he married Minnie Holte. She was born on August 10, 1876, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Her father, Andrew Holte, and her mother, Petra Hansen, were immigrants from Norway.

It appears that George and Minnie remained in Neepawa for some time after their marriage.

By the early 1900s, they were in Vancouver. George appeared at the following addresses in Vancouver.

1905 952 Denman Street
1906 no address under names
1907 Georgia House (possibly 833 Georgia Street)
1910 and 1911 1200 Bidwell Street
1912 to 1914 738 Jervis Street

In 1910 and 1911, George and Minnie, along with their two children, were lodging with Sarah Anne Clements (1837-1913) at 1200 Bidwell Street.

On March 24, 1916, George enlisted with the Canadian Expeditionary Force to serve during the First World War. However, on November 29, 1916, he was discharged as over-age and medically unfit. His medical history document said: “He is in his 50th year, looks anemic and in poor health.” It is not clear what happened to George, but he appears to have died between 1916 and 1918.

On May 18, 1918, in New Westminster, British Columbia, Minnie married Arthur Corydon Brown, who was a real estate broker. Arthur was born on April 26, 1884, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. His father was Corydon Partlow Brown (1848-1891), who was a land surveyor and well-known Manitoba politician. Arthur’s mother was Emma Davidson.

Arthur died in Vancouver on January 16, 1923. He was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.

Minnie died in Vancouver on August 8, 1972.

George and Minnie had the following children.

George Russell Davidson

George Russell Davidson was born in Neepawa, Manitoba, on January 14, 1897. He worked as a real estate broker.

On July 31, 1929, in Vancouver, he married Marguerite Collinson, who was a stenographer. She was born in Glenallen, Ontario about 1899 (or 1896). Her father was George James Collinson, who was a farmer. Her mother was Christina Menzies Cunningham. This marriage ended in divorce in New Westminster, British Columbia, on October 6, 1955.

George died in Vancouver on October 30, 1993.

Janice Enid Davidson

Janice Enid Davidson was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on October 3, 1903. (Her middle name was sometimes spelled “Aenid.”)

On January 2, 1926, in Vancouver, Janice married William Albert Bird Bickell, who was a professional engineer. He was born in Toronto, Ontario, on September 3, 1896. His father was William James Bickell. His mother was Bertha Louise Bird.

William died in Vancouver on August 30, 1959.

Janice continued to live in the Vancouver area. In 1972, she was living on Point Grey Road in Vancouver. She died between 1972 and 2008.

William and Janice had two children: Margot Diane Bickell (1929-2008); and Peter Albert Bickell (1932-2009).
