Camplin, Frederick Baldwin (1887-possibly 1941)

Frederick Baldwin Camplin was a broker and salesmen who worked for the National Oil Company in Vancouver. He lived at 2047 Pendrell Street in 1919.

He was born on August 29, 1887, in Beeton, Simcoe County, Ontario. It appears that his father was William Camplin, a butcher in Beeton, and that his mother was Jessie Jane Schoolcroft.

On June 22, 1911, in Vancouver, Frederick married Fannie Rose Botting. She was born about 1887 in London, England. Her father was Walter Botting; her mother was Fannie Harriet Guy.

Frederick enlisted with the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the First World War. He was invalided out of the military about 1918.

In 1919, Frederick was living briefly at 2047 Pendrell Street. He was a broker. He later moved to no. 39, 1455 West 8th Avenue. In 1920, he was a salesman with the National Oil Company. John McShane was the president of the company; its offices were in the Western Canada Building at 416 West Pender Street.

It appears that Frederick and Fannie were divorced. Frederick was living in Los Angeles, California, by 1922.

On June 30, 1922, in Orange County, California, Frederick married Edna Marschrider, who was a secretary. She was born in New York State about 1896. Her parents were Edward Marschrider and Regina Berst.

In the 1930 United States census, Fred B. Camplin was living in San Diego, California. The census described him as “single.” Also in the 1930 census, Rose Camplin was living in Laguna Beach, California; she was divorced, and was working as a real estate broker.

On February 4, 1933, in Santa Ana, Orange County, California, Fanny married George William Smith, a real estate broker who was living in Laguna Beach, California. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts on April 16, 1880. His parents were George Smith and Mary Roe.

It appears that George died in 1948, and that Fanny died in 1968. George and Fanny were buried in Melrose Abbey Memorial Park in Anaheim, Orange County, California.

It appears that Frederick Baldwin Camplin died in Alliston, Simcoe County, Ontario on January 5, 1941.

No further information is available at this time.
