Boon, John George (c. 1871?-after 1904)

John George Boon was a civil engineer who lived at 1876 Beach Avenue in 1903 and 1904.

It appears that he had a connection with Ogmore College. Ogmore-by-Sea is a village about 20 miles west of Cardiff, Wales.

Although this connection is not certain, a person named John George Boon was born in the district of Alnwick, Northumberland, England, and christened on July 16, 1871, in Embleton, Northumberland. His father was James Boon; his mother was Martha. He married Mary Anderson; they had a son named John Rutherford Boon.

Another unconfirmed connection is for Private John George Boon, who was killed in action in the First World War. He was serving with the 10th Battalion of the West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales’s Own).  He was born in Gainsborough, England, and he enlisted in Newcastle-on Tyne; his service number was 19874. He died on July 1, 1916, and was buried in the Fricourt New Military Cemetery in the Somme, France.

No further information is currently available for this person.
